Freedom of Information Policy

What does Freedom of Information mean:


A set of provisions and procedures that govern the exercise of the right to access public information related to the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU)'s activities and enhance the principle of transparency and the free flow of this information.

Policy Scope of Work:


This Policy shall apply to all requests by individuals to access to or obtain public information produced by the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), regardless of its source, form, or nature, including paper-based records, information stored on computers, audio or video tapes, maps, photographs, manuscripts, handwritten documents, or any other form of recorded information.

What information can be requested:


The policy applies to all requests for access to public information - not protected and classified as "public" - that is produced by the Commission.

The provisions of this Policy shall not apply to the protected information, which is:

  • Information the disclosure of which would harm national security of the state, its policies, interests, or rights .
  • Military and security information.
  • Information and documents, classified as protected, obtained under an agreement with another state.
  • Investigations, inquiries, seizures, searches and surveillance related to a crime, violation, or threat.
  • Information that includes recommendations, proposals, or consultations for the issuance of legislation or a government decision that has not yet been issued.
  • Information of a commercial, industrial, financial, or economic nature, the disclosure of which leads to the achievement of a profit or the avoidance of a loss in an illegal manner.
  • Scientific or technical research, or rights that include an intellectual property right, the disclosure of which would infringe upon a moral right.
  • Information pertaining to tenders, bids, and auctions, the disclosure of which would prejudice fair competition.
